Dia Internacional da Mulher

PORQUÊ O DIA 8 DE MARÇO?

Neste dia, do ano de 1857, as operárias têxteis de uma fábrica de Nova York entraram em greve, ocupando a fábrica, para reivindicarem a redução de um horário de mais de 16 horas por dia para 10 horas. Estas operárias recebiam menos de um terço do salário dos homens, foram fechadas na fábrica onde, entretanto, se declarara um incêndio, e cerca de 130 mulheres morreram queimadas.

Em 1910, numa conferência internacional de mulheres realizada na Dinamarca, foi decidido, em homenagem àquelas mulheres, comemorar o 8 de Março como "Dia Internacional da Mulher". De lá pra cá o movimento a favor da emancipação da mulher tem tomado forma, tanto em Portugal como no resto do mundo.

O QUE SE PRETENDE COM A CELEBRAÇÃO DESTE DIA?

Pretende-se chamar a atenção para o papel e a dignidade da mulher e levar a uma tomada de consciência do valor da pessoa, perceber o seu papel na sociedade, contestar e rever preconceitos e limitações que vêm sendo impostos à mulher.

Praticamente 150 anos depois da tragédia que originou esta data, podemos perceber que houve uma evolução muito grande e as mulheres conquistaram boa parte do mundo (dos homens).

WHY 8 March?

Today, in the year 1857, the workers of a textile factory in New York went on strike, occupying the factory, reducing the demand for a timetable of over 16 hours to 10 hours. These workers received less than a third of the wages of men, were sealed at the factory where, however, was declared a fire, and about 130 women died burnt.

In 1910, an international conference of women held in Denmark, it was decided, in tribute to those women, to celebrate March 8 as International Women's Day. ". Out here the movement for the emancipation of women has taken shape, both in Portugal and the world.

WHAT IF INTENDS TO AWARD THIS DAY?
It is intended to draw attention to the role and dignity of women and lead to an awareness of the value of the person, understand their role in society, challenging prejudices and limitations, and review that are being imposed on women.

Nearly 150 years after the tragedy that triggered this date, we can see that there was a big change and women conquered much of the world (of men).
